[JuniorSurfA] A group second session at pool (this Sunday)

Hi All 

 

I will start by thanking all the helpers from Sunday – a very Big thank you
- with out all of you we would not have been able to test 132 (+ some B and
C) kids in under 80mins… great effort

 

This week we have the 7’s at the pool.  They do not need a 200m badge but
can try out for one if they (you) are confident that they can make 8 lengths
in 7min.  Please send me an email if you think your child would like to try
for the badge so I can plan for the activity (200m badge = 8 lengths in
7mins, no stopping at the sides, no hanging on the lane ropes – no
exceptions ). 200m swimmers must decide before they start as it is a timed
distance.

 

We will be handing out certificates for the following distances for any A
grouper (7,8, 9) - (there are no time restrictions, but no stopping
allowed):

*	100m (4 lengths)
*	50m (2 lengths)
*	25m (1 length)

 

If your child attempts the 200m but only does the 100m then they will get a
certificate for the 100m – the same applies for the attempting the 100m but
only making 50m etc. So if they find the 25m easy, they should keep going to
complete up to 4 lengths if they can.  If we have time at the end there
might be an opportunity to try more than one distance.  If time permits we
will also have some boogie boards for them to try.  As part of the SLSNZ
Certificate Level 1 (for the seven yr olds) they also need to tread water
for 25seconds and be able to paddle a boogie board – we will attempt to do
this on Sunday at the pool.  

 

We will require at least 14 helpers - please send me an email if you are
able to help (eg timekeepers, counters, recording times, marshalling kids
etc) – coaches please have some togs as some kids will need assistance in
the water.
